Can you hide the cute emoticons?

I'm new so I apologize if this information is up here somewhere. I haven't found it yet so I thought I'd ask.

Those emoticons are very cute, but since my brain is old, I'm wondering if there's a way to hide them when composing a post/ response and only seeing them when you want to add them? I keep getting distracted by emoticon hugs and emoticons losing their butts and stuff and forget what I was trying to say.

There is a little [more] button, so I was wondering if there was also a little [hide] button for old farts like me who lose their train of thought too easily these days.

Haha.. hopefully that made sense. And now for the cute emoticon....  :thankyou

At the bottom of each post is a 'quick reply' box -- if you use that, you won't see any of the emoticons.  (You simply scroll down rather than hitting the 'reply' button, and you'll see the 'quick reply' box.

Also, if you decide after you've composed your quick reply (and before you hit post) that you do want to add an emoticon, you can hit Preview and as well as showing how your post will look posted (you have to scroll to the top to see this) the emoticons will appear above your reply box. Not sure if that makes sense.  :)
