Stand-alone YA fantasy

I know fantasy usually comes in series, but I was wondering if anyone had any YA recommendations for stand-alones (I could handle books with companion novels). I've read all the Cashore books (which I adored) and I also recently read CITY OF A THOUSAND DOLLS. I'm on a bit of a fantasy binge, but I don't want to commit to any more series.

Thanks!

I loved Maggie Stiefvater's THE SCORPIO RACES. It's a stand-alone.

I'd second LIPS TOUCH! Laini Taylor's prose is stunning. I'd highly recommend her novel DAUGHTER OF SMOKE & BONE but it's the first of a trilogy. Alas!

I haven't read it but I believe Alex Bracken's BRIGHTLY WOVEN is another YA fantasy standalone.

Seconds BRIGHTLY WOVEN. FEARLESS by Cornelia Funke-- although it appears there's a sequel coming out this year. If you like fairy tale books, Alex Flinn has a bunch. All, to my knowledge, are standalone or companion books. Diana Wynne Jones books--particularly FIRE AND HEMLOCK for YA. I also really enjoyed Hilari Bell's GOBLIN WOOD. It's technically a series, but the other two books read more like companion novels, and GOBLIN WOOD definitely stands on its own.

Excellent! Thanks.

I've read LIPS TOUCH and THE SCORPIO RACES, but I'll add the others to my list.

if you're into monster-based thrillers, you can't do better than "Bonechiller" by Graham McNamee.
