Good luck to everyone with Cricket subs! I still have a few subs with them.  I received 2 rejections on 6/21 for pieces I sent through Submittable in April but the rest of my end of April/early May subs are still "In Progress." Hope we hear good news here soon!

Thanks again, Jayca, for sharing about the new online submissions process for these magazines.

I just got an acceptance letter (attached to an email) from Cricket magazine, for a poem I submitted a month or so ago. I had submitted via the link you provided.

A word of warning - the editor of Cricket said in her letter that they are eight to ten months behind on payments to their contributors. Judging from brief online research, I think this goes for all Carus magazines. Times are tough.

At least the editor was honest and up-front about this problem, though. Better forewarned than frustrated.

Congrats! I'm still waiting to hear on mine, so fingers crossed!

I heard about three of them and not the fourth.  I always thought the fourth was the strongest, so perhaps it's been sent up the chain.

VAMPIRINA BALLERINA series (Disney-Hyperion)
SUNNY'S TOW TRUCK SAVES THE DAY (Abrams)
GROUNDHUG DAY (Disney-Hyperion, 2017)
among others

I have heard back on two poem subs, but I subbed a NF article very first in April and haven't heard back on that one yet.

THE THREE RULES OF EVERYDAY MAGIC (Boyds Mills Press, Fall 2018)

Nice to hear Anne Marie and Amanda Sue.  I have one poem out there too and was hoping, just maybe, that might mean good news.  Guess I'll spend a little while longer doing   :whistle

:goodluck  Good luck to you both.

Good luck, everyone!

I love that they've included a way to check the status of your submission. Probably a time saver for them but great for authors/illustrators also. Now if they'd just pay sooner...

This is great that they accept e-subs now! (just saw this)
And I'm one of the many that is patiently awaiting a payment for an already published contribution. At least they do tell that up front!

In September I received an email from Babybug stating that they wanted to buy one of my poems. The assistant editor also wrote "and I hope to have an opportunity to read more of your work." Great news! I was thrilled.

But now I am confused. I would like to submit more poetry to her - do I send it as a response directly to her email address? Or do I use the new online submission form?

Thanks!

Crooked,

I agree that I'd ask the editor what he/she wanted. For me, even though I've made some sales to ASK, I continue to use the Submittable form to submit proposals because that's what the editor requests. However, I never hear anything back through Submittable, just from the editor herself.

Good luck!

I subbed some poems to Babybug in February via snail mail (this was just before they started using Submittable). I haven't heard a peep. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm now starting to think I should resubmit through the online system.

I honestly don't think it would hurt, Carrie. At least you'll know they got it, if you do.

Carrie, I submitted some by snailmail in April, right before I found out about Submittable. I have been thinking about re-subbing them, too.

OK, you talked me into it.  :)

It's true, Jody - that's one thing I like about this online system. At least we can be sure nothing has gotten lost in the mail, or in a pile on someone's desk.

Carrie, I also submitted to Babybug in February via snail mail, and so far I haven't heard anything. I was hoping that was a sign they were seriously considering my manuscript, but maybe I need to consider resubmitting via Submittable.

Well, I never got around to resubmitting my snail-mail sub from February, and just yesterday heard back via email - 1 poem accepted for Babybug and 1 for Ladybug. Yay! So there's still hope snail-mailers...
