I just finished reading THE MAGICIAN'S ELEPHANT  and am curious to see what others think of it.

I think it's a good example of  a 'literary' book.

Peter and and most of the other characters are well developed.

I thought though, as I was listening to the book on CD and as I also read parts -- that there was waaaay too much repetition --and it made me feel that much of it was filler.

I think Kate Dicamillo is an amazing writer, but The Magician's Elephant wasn't my favorite. If I had come across it as a child, it wouldn't have held my interest, but that maybe reflects more on my own shallowness than the book. I loved Because of Winn Dixie and also Edward Tulane.
