I am working on a character-driven pb, and I am loving my MC. I can totally see her in other situations. And I think I have a unique hook, might even be high-concept (a girl can dream  :cloud9)

What criteria sets apart a standalone character-driven picture book from a character that could be developed into a picture book series? How do you know when you have a picture book character that is worthy of a series?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks.

Well, coincidentally, Blue Boarder and author Pam Calvert has just written a post that relates to your question.

The fact that it discusses my VAMPIRINA BALLERINA is NOT why I'm posting the link. :)

Thanks Anne Marie. This is a great post, Pam does a wonderful job explaining.

BTW my girls loved your Vampirina Ballerina book, can't wait to read the next one.
On that note when you wrote the first book, did you know you wanted to write more stories for Vampirina?

Thanks, Darshana!

I didn't go in expecting a series, but when you have a unique character, it's always possible, so it's not as if it didn't occur to me at all.  Both LeUyen and I are glad to have had the chance to work with Vampirina again.
