Hi Jody,

I was checking into them a couple of days ago, thinking of subbing to them.

Here is the link I found:

Best of luck!

[Mods, if this should be posted in a different thread, feel free.]

Okay, I've looked at their website. I can't tell if they pay or if they accept poetry. Their guidelines don't address poetry specifically. Anyone have experience?

One other note, has anyone read a translated story on their site? Google chrome did the work for me, and boy howdy, did the story come out wacky. Is that a concern for anyone?

Hi Jody,
What do you mean by wacky?

I've read on the ICL boards that the editor is nice and easy to work with, but that's all I know. I just subbed for the first time so I'm interested to know what others think, too.

They pay up to 25 cents per word (saw it in the ICL enews). Not sure about poetry but you could probably query the editor.

Good luck to you and Schriscoe!

Good luck, Starfish.

I don't mean to put a damper on this market, but I read this on their site, and it caused me concern. Honestly, I don't know if this is from their magazine or what...I find it hard to know what the tabs at the top of their web site mean, since google translator didn't translate them for me.

Hi All, I was curious so I poked around for more info about this magazine publisher and found this:

http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=269492

As for translating another language into English on an internet app such as Chrome, I wouldn't necessarily trust that. Translation programs mess up all the time with words written in English, using the alphabet. I can only imagine what can happen with translation of a tonal language such as Chinese.

ECM,

Thanks for the additional information. Interestingly, even the magazine's editor suggests using Google translate!

Good luck, everyone.

Hi, I didn't see a comment from the editor on translation in either place--must've missed it. Here's an interesting article on google translate & Chinese: http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=4446

FYI, in the footnote I read that they are no longer accepting poetry.

Hope this info helps. Cheers!
