PiBoIdMo is only about 6 weeks away!

I'm busy inviting guest bloggers, so I want to ask you, is there anyone you want to see appear this year?

Any agents you'd like to see on board?

Any other suggestions for the event? I'd love to hear them....

In the meantime, last year's posts are all available for review. Just visit http://taralazar.com/piboidmo for a list of names and links to their guest blogs.

Aaron Becker, author of JOURNEY. I just love that book. And I want to know whether he'd always planned to include Harold and his Purple Crayon!

William Bee, author of BEWARE OF THE FROG. Just because he's sooooooooo brilliant.

Linda Ashman, author of RAIN. Something on how to write stories with very few words - and the how tos of illustration notes.

I'd also love to read some editor or agent input on what they see way too often. I've found that kind of thing really useful for MG, I'd love to know the same for PBs. Not the obvious stuff like, anthropomorphic animals, but more specific manuscript-level stuff, ie too much or too little dialogue, endings that lack punch, that kind of thing. I'd also love to know how an agent/editor decide to say yes to the very quirky books - when is quirky too quirky?!

Ooh, I'll be sitting on a panel with Aaron Becker in two weeks! Perfect opportunity to ask him!

Franzilla,

You can go to Linda Ashman's website and actually view what some of her manuscripts look like with illustration notes --some like SAMATHAN ON A ROLL, feature 2 versions. The ms. that was acquired and the final version. She is a PB goddess!

Oh I know - Darshana was actually the one who directed me to Linda's website a while ago and I was so happy to find those MS! RAIN is also on there. But I think it'd be a great subject to cover for PiBoIdMo so that other readers get to see them, no?

Tara, how exciting! He seems like a lovely bloke too.

I'm looking forward to joining in on the fun this year.  Also, maybe some suggestions about the setting because of the low word count of a PB, and you can't just rely on pictures.

Well I think I got a pretty good mix of folks from different genres...we'll see how it goes. My recruiting time always goes by so quickly, and I always have folks asking me if they can guest blog (in addition to ones I'm soliciting) and I don't like to turn anyone away. I posted a partial list of bloggers--I'll get the full list and dates up soon!

I'd love to hear from Lane Smith. I love Grandpa Green and It's a Little Book. Your website is phenomenal by the way. I'm looking forward to this PiBoIdMo.
