Hi, all,

For picture books with minimal text, how should we describe in the  manuscript what we have in mind for illustrations? Is there a specific format to use (like description in brackets)? Can we add notes for the illustrator?

Can someone give an example here?

Thanks!

I was told illustrator notes should be in <these brackets> but for the life of me I can't remember who told me that... but maybe the idea is to differentiate the brackets from (this type of bracket)?

Author, Linda Ashman, has a download of her manuscript NO DOGS ALLOWED - a great example of a nearly wordless picture book.

Hope that helps.
