Anyone know where I can find some good ideas for questions/outlines for character sketches? I've always po-pooed them in the past but think it may be a good practice.

It's not a kid lit book, but Elizabeth George has a writing book with lots of suggestions on creating character sketches (and many other ways to be a plotter too).

Here's one I've used. It's very long. Chose whatever is relevant to your story. Even if you do only part of it you'll know your character thoroughly.
