Hi Fellow Blueboarders:

Any advice on how to format a PB manuscript for an email submission to a publishing house that only accepts online submissions and has a "no attachments" policy?

Hi Loren,

The way I do it, and others may be different. Is

Dear ?,

I put my pitch here

Then my bio.

Thank you for your time. Below is my manuscript.
Sincerely,
your name

Then I copy and paste my PB. Just be sure that the font is all the same so it doesn't look like a copy/ paste. If it is different, simply highlight it all and choose your font.

Hope this helps.

Once you've taken the steps above, e-mail it to yourself first. If you see problems, try converting to plain text before pasting in. To do this, copy to WordPad or NotePad and save as plain text. Then copy again to make sure the formatting disappears. Now you are ready to cut and paste into your e-mail. Spell check afterwards. I still have to replace Word's smart quotes by hand in the e-mail. It's tedious, but this means I send a clean readable copy.

Good luck.

Thanks, Debbie.  Very helpful advice.  Emailing it to yourself first is definitely the way to go.  I tried that before I sent out a submission and got a huge block of text.  Needless to say, I adjusted the way I was pasting! :)  Thanks again!
