I'm posting this on behalf of a small house. I am not the person who will make the decision, but I am the intermediary. This publisher is looking for illustrators who:

1. have already illustrated at least one book for a legitimate publisher (self-published books don't meet this requirement).

2. have illustrated astronomical subject matter: stars, galaxies, planets, the solar system. Extra credit if drawings, sketches, or paintings are scientifically accurate and/or imaginative.

3. have illustrated realistic scenes portraying animals such as dinosaurs, reptiles, seascapes, plants, large fauna.

Please don't email samples to me. Post a link to your portfolio. We are not looking for cartoons or anime. This is for a science book with poetic elements.

Thanks!

Intriguing! And if Ellen is involved with this company, then it's worth pursuing, IMO.

My friend is having trouble logging in (hasn't been here since before the Blueboards merged with SCBWI), so I offered to post her link. Here's her site:

Thanks again, Ellen! Good luck with your illustrator search!

A science book with poetic elements sounds like a lot of fun. I have illustrated several picture books and a variety of different subjects, including animals. I'd love to be considered for this project. Thanks so much! You can see my portfolios here:
