So I just had my very first children's magazine acceptance. I am so, so excited! I signed a contract with Pockets for the Jan. 2015 issue.

But this brings up something else. Can I include this in my cover letter for another submission to a different magazine before it is published? Or do I wait until it is published? If I can include it, how much info do I give? Do I say fiction and under contract? Or do I give the title and the future publication date?

I've never had an acceptance to include before, so I'm not sure what is customary. I want to do the right thing.

Congratulations!!! May this be the first of many.
Definitely say that you have XYZ accepted for publication in Pockets!!! After about 3 acceptances, I would just name the magazines and after several more, you can just say you have over a dozen publications in A, B, C.

You can say something like: My work is forthcoming in Pockets magazine. Or since you know the specific issue: My story "Title" is scheduled for publication in Pockets magazine in January.

After a while, when I had work published in some magazines and accepted (but not published yet) in others, I wrote something like: My poems and stories have been published (or are forthcoming) in ABC, DEF, GHI, and JKL magazines.

Ditto what Vijaya and CarrieF said.  Plus, congratulations on your acceptance! If you are an SCBWI member you can change your status to PAL member once you've signed a contract.  ::-)

Yes, congrats on your acceptance!  Pockets is a wonderful magazine.

Vijaya and Carrie have both given you good possibilities for your current situation.

After you get a bunch more acceptances (which I expect you will  :yup ), another way you can say it is-- I've had x acceptances from children's magazines including A, B, C, and D.
