If Dr. Seuss books were to be published today, what genre would they fit in?
Easy readers? Early Chapter books? Definitely not picture books I think.

It's my iPad making the spelling mistakes, not I!

Which books?  Some ARE easy readers and were published as easy readers (CAT IN THE HAT, GREEN EGGS AND HAM, THE FOOT BOOK) in a Random House line called Beginner Books.  Others are picture books and were published as picture books (THE 500 HATS OF BARTHOLOMEW CUBBINS, THE LORAX).

SUNNY'S TOW TRUCK SAVES THE DAY (Abrams)

Thanks Anne Marie! Yes, I was talking about the beginner books that you mention. I haven't quite see any other easy readers (maybe we don't see such a big collection in Tokyo, where I live ) that fit the same style as Dr. Seuss so I was wondering. Although the words are simple his books do have abstract elements ( 2 things!! ) that I haven't seen in recent easy readers.
Ps: Vampirina is a favourite in our house! My daughter loves the books!

Aw, shucks--thanks!

There's actually a Wikipedia article about the Beginner Books, if you're interested further.

I read Bartholomew Cubbins last week - loved it as a kid! It was soooo long. I think it would be a chapter book today for sure. Kiddos enjoyed it but I got tired of reading after a while, would have been nice to have an obvious stopping place so I could read the rest tomorrow.
