I found the podcast about Jules Verne's 'lost book' very interesting: http://www.futilitycloset.com/2015/05/11/podcast-episode-57-jules-vernes-lost-novel (only the first 15 mins are about the book)

Not only because of the dystopian aspects and the predictions about how 'progress' might backfire on society, but also because Jules Verne had a struggle between what he wanted to write versus what would sell well.
