First Children's Picture Book in Gothic

Discussion started on

The Five Little Froggies is available in twelve modern languages and one ancient language. Gothic is the language spoken by the Germanic tribes that overran the Roman empire. It is the oldest of the Germanic languages and spoken today only by linguistic scholars. In an effort to enlist an new generation in the Gothic language, this bilingual translation has been prepared.

Okay, that is AWESOME (says the wife of an Old High German scholar, who indeed, doesn't know of anything comparable).

As somebody who studied Gothic in grad school, I was sure the header had to be a typo. Glad to see it's not!

Gothic is, like, SO lame....Oh, you mean the language!  ;)

(And I'm getting flashbacks of when they briefly tried a failed strategy of releasing easy readers in Phonetic English, which...looked like Gothic to me, at the time.)

That is wonderful! I know quite a few Old English fans who'd love this.
Congratulations!

What fun!  I have several translations of classic children's books in Latin, and it's good to see other languages using this learning technique.

 :)

What's the print run?
#12 - June 22, 2015, 07:41 AM
Imagination is more important than knowledge. Einstein.

It's Print On Demand. CreateSpace is the printer so the print run is unlimited.
