I am both an author/illustrator and recently completed a chapter book. It’s illustrated driven similar to Captain Underpants and Bad Kitty Gets a Bath. Because illustrations play a big part in my book I'm not sure if I should submitted the manuscript on its own? The manuscript with sample illustrations? Or should I send a dummy book format? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Veronica

If you want to illustrate it I would definitely submit with sample illustrations. I submitted a full series proposal for KPC, as per the publisher's detailed guidelines. I had a ms, a sample dummy sketch chapter, and two or three color samples, as well as character bios, a series overview, and brief synopses for three additional books. My recent sale I submitted as a picture book and was asked to adapt it to a chapter book. So I really don't  know the best way to package a submission. There's so many different chapter book formats depending on the publisher. But I would think a complete ms with illustration samples/dummy chapter is a good start if there is no detailed submission guidelines for cbs. If an editor wants additional materials they will request them.
