Hello, this is my first time starting a thread.  Was wondering if it's safe to submit an unpublished manuscript for a review?  I was thinking about Reader's Favorite (since they accept manuscripts), but it makes me a little nervous.  Advice please...  Thank you!

Hi Phoebe. I don't know about Reader's Favorite, but there are threads right here on the SCBWI Discussion Boards that offer the same. I have used them and have received really constructive advice.
Best of luck, no matter how you proceed.

Phoebe, do you mean submitting it to a publisher, an editor you pay for her work, or a beta reader? (Betas are other writers with whom you swap manuscripts, and give each other feedback.)

Thank you for replies.  I have an editor, and I'm almost ready to go to print (self-publishing).  I was hoping to get some reviews (quotes) about the book that I could use in publicizing the book.  Can I do that here?  :)

Oh sorry, I may have misunderstood the question. My response (above) refers to critiquing/feedback, which is dewsanddamps' third option.

Phoebe, we avoid that here: https://www.scbwi.org/boards/index.php?topic=70694.0

You can try soliciting book bloggers who cover your type of book for reviews, or use the Member Giveaway feature on LibraryThing (though it doesn't guarantee reviews) or if your book is in print, do a giveaway on Goodreads.

You should have a look through the Self-Publishing board here as well--there might be some useful information.  https://www.scbwi.org/boards/index.php?board=95.0

I agree with Marissa. You could get in touch with some BookTubers too. Here's a list of popular BookTubers:

Hope you find this useful, Phoebe! Hugs! :)

You can certainly go ahead and submit an advanced review copy to any and all reviewers who'll accept it.  ::-)

I found this list helpful:

Hope that helps!
