'How To Write' book for kids

Discussion started on

My friend has an eleven-year-old daughter named Isabella. Cute kid. Bright too. Tonight at dinner she asked me, point blank, "How do you write a book?" I had a real "Which way did he go, George?" moment. My eyes crossed with a big fat duh. Wasn't expecting it. We talked a bit and I could see from her eyes that she was soaking every word into her brain.

My question: What's a good 'how to write' book for an eleven-year-old?

I've heard good things about SPILLING INK.

My writer daughter (age 10) likes that one. Also Writing Magic by Gail Carson Levine is a good, kid-friendly one.

I'd suggest SPILLING INK too. It goes through how to write in a fun, accessible way.

I also like Spilling Ink. Another is The Playful Way to Serious Writing -- it has a lot of prompts and I've used these for workshops with kids.
