Lyrical, literary pb's?

Discussion started on

I'm looking for lyrical, literary pb's, with a kind of dreamy quality, along the lines of A SICK DAY FOR AMOS MCGEE and FREDERICK. That sort of thing. Any suggestions?

I just read Phillip Stead's latest - Ideas Are All Around. Very lyrical, in my humble opinion.

In case anyone else reads this and is interested in suggestions, I want to add Dario and the Whale to the list. I just read an advance copy. It's lovely.

After spending the weekend with Jane Yolen (boot camp) I thought of OWL MOON right off the bat, same as Barbara. Another one by Jane and her daughter is YOU NEST HERE WITH ME. So many great bedtime stories have that dreamy, lyrical quality. Also, COWBOY DREAMS by Kathi Appelt.

OMG Stephanie, I LOVED reading Moon Plane with my boys when they were little. That book is just lovely. Except for the very last line. I remember every time I read it, I felt like it was missing one beat. I wish I saved it so I could read it again. Did the last line feel incomplete to you?!

Yes, it always has felt a bit off to me! Something about the pat rhyme "flying high in the sky" just didn't fit with the dreamy, slide-y, meditative tone of the rest of it.
