ALL ABOARD THE BLUEBOARD
by Verla Kay

Welcome to “All Aboard the Blueboard.” This column will help you easily and efficiently use SCBWI’s new message board.  The Blueboard is HUGE! It’s chock-full of information related to children’s literature – a true treasure-trove of ideas. All you need to access it is a little time and the helpful information found in this column.

SCBWI members are already registered on the Blueboard. Just log onto the Blueboard using your SCBWI email (this is your user name) and SCBWI password to automatically create your profile.

On your first post you will see at least 2 green stars under your name – one indicates you’re a member of SCBWI and one shows the name of your Region. If you are a PAL member or an RA, those stars should be showing, as well. The stars mean you have access to all of your boards. (If you only see some of your stars, send a message to Verla Kay at verlakay@aol.com.)

Essential Reminder:

Make sure you read the Rules of the Board before you post and especially before you advertise any business or books. A large part of the message board is open to the public, so strict posting rules and careful, constant moderation are used to keep it poster-friendly and spam-free for everyone.

What’s New on the Blueboard:

“SCBWI RA Services” was just created. Here Regional Advisors may freely advertise their personal writing and/or illustrating related businesses, classes, workshops, critique services, etc.

Timesaver Tip:

Overwhelmed by over 230,000 new posts on the board? Click on “Show Unread Posts Since Last Visit” (underneath Welcome <your name> at the top of the board), then click “Mark All Message As Read.” Now only the newest posts will show as unread messages.

Until next time, happy posting, Everyone.
