Crediting Unknown Author?

Discussion started on

I'm working on a short story, and part of the inspiration comes from the well-known poem, "Five Little Pumpkins." I can't seem to find an author to credit, so I was thinking that on a page or so before the story, like a Epigraph, I'd have the poem with "Author Unknown" below it.  Does this sound kosher?  I have seen many versions of the poem online, but can find no credit for an author.  Does anyone know?  Is there a way to find out?

Thank you!!   :jackolantern :witch :jackolantern

I think five little pumpkins falls into a class of rhymes that includes Five Little Monkeys, of which I know two widely different versions. They are likely to be public domain. I think Author Unknown works fine.

Thank you, Debbie.  That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.
