How many stories do you submit?

How many stories do you submit to a children's magazine at one time? Just one? Two? More?

I submit stories one at a time unless the editor has invited me to submit more. But with poems, I'll sometimes submit 2 or 3 at a time. With nonfiction, I'll have multiple queries out for the same issue because one idea leads to another and another. It's so easy to go down the research rabbit hole.

Um, in my earlier magazine days, I started submitting more than one story before hearing back because the response time was several months. One day I got a very nice rejection letter for 4 mss and the editor said all my mss were making the rounds but to please slow down sending them :grin3

Good luck with your subs. V.

One factor to consider is whether the magazine has themes. If you're submitting for different themes, then I think it's fine to submit more than one story to a magazine.

But you still probably don't want to overwhelm them with submissions.
