Website Hosting?

Discussion started on

Hi, everyone,

This topic is related to another one I started, WordPress for Website. My question now is, can anyone recommend non-free but not exorbitant places to host my website?

Squarespace squarespace squarespace. ( Hands down the best bang for your buck. Super easy to use, beautiful base templates with tons of flexibility for customization (that doesn't feel overwhelming... you don't need to know a drop of code to customize), a one-stop-shop of 24/7 support from people who know the ins and outs of their system, worth every penny you pay (which isn't terrible). PLUS they give you a free 2-week trial to see if you like it or not, so I highly recommend you give it a shot!

Just started up my Wordpress website this past month and am using Bluehost.  I thought it was reasonably priced and the customer service is great too.  Also, they make it easy to connect to Wordpress.  Check out Bluehost's tutorials on Youtube--a great resource.

From my own experience can I just say that, which ever host you choose, make sure they are in the same country as you. Otherwise, contacting them in an emergency/with a difficulty can be so much harder.
Best of luck with it!

I've Got Eyes! - Amicus Ink (August 2018)

Thanks so much, Kiteflyer and Julie. Little by little, I'm getting closer.

I use Weebly for my classroom website and they host for reasonable price - I think I got two years for around a hundred bucks. They offer many templates that are easy to use, too.  I'm not sure how the templates would translate to a writers website, but it may be worth checking out.

ROYALLY ENTITLED (inspirational/historical YA) and OOPS-A-DAISY (humorous MG) out now.

Just a note on hosting. Wix, Weebly and Squarespace are all integrated platforms that will only host their own websites - they don't sell hosting to anybody but customers of their platforms. So you can't for instance host a Wordpress site on any of those sites.

When trying to research different hosting providers and their reputations an customer service, this site is invaluable -

It's aimed at the professional hosting community but if you do a search for any hosting company that you are considering using you will find reviews and comments from existing customers that may help you make a decision. If you really want good support it's worth considering managed hosting and spending a little extra on upgrading to a VPS - an entry level VPS with Knownhost will cost $285 per year but get's you a powerful SSD server with a choice of 4 locations.

Hope that helps.
