SCBWI's Blueboard - A Message & Chat Board

Sharing Illustrations Online

Discussion started on

I hope this is the right board...Anyway, I have a PB that I'm writing/illustrating and was considering posting some of the finished images online. Would this possibly clash with a future contractual agreement regarding the images that end up in the final book? What about illustrations that I decide not to use, but still feature the main character (who is rather visually unique and would be recognizable even if it's not one of the official book images)? It's not yet to the point where I want to submit anything, but I haven't been published yet, so I'm not sure how this works...

This convo has come up several times. Most author/illustrators will post a maximum of 2-3 images from a WIP in their portfolio. I often send out an image from a WIP as a self-promo postcard.

Sorry for the repeat topic. I'm a new user and didn't see it in the pages I scanned.

Thanks for the advice! Very helpful.   ::-)

No worries - sometimes old threads are hard to find.
