The slowness of the approach must be agonizing for those in the path. So much dread, fear, and waiting, and now the storm.

Stay safe, Blue Boarders.

Thanks for the support and encouragement! I live near Tampa, about twenty miles inland.  We're buttoned up tight, waiting, and praying.

Butterfly, so glad to hear from you.

We just talked to Max. He's in his room and catching on all his reading. Yesterday was a busy day preparing.

Sending prayers and God's peace to all, V.

Phew! What a relief to be on the other side of Irma! Our neighbor's tree fell and tore out a few sections of our fence, shortly before we lost power (around 10:30 PM), but we are counting our blessings.

It was frightening to lie in bed and listen to the wind roaring outside, knowing it had already taken down one tree, but we finally fell asleep and woke to no new damage to our property. We surveyed the neighborhood this morning--many huge trees were down, some pinning cars beneath them, but there was no visible damage to homes. Considering the storm was bulls-eyeing straight for us, we feel extremely grateful that our town came through in relatively good shape. And bonus, our power was restored a half hour ago, much sooner than expected.

Now it's time to clean up the mess outside and get back into our routine. I hope our other friends who are in Irma's path will check in and let us know they're okay.

Thank so much for the concern and support!  :thankyou

So glad to hear it wasn't worse for you ButterflyGirl.  But I'm sorry about the big, beautiful trees and the damage to your neighborhood.

Praying the rest who are dealing with Irma come through okay.

So glad you're safe, ButterflyGirl. Thanks for letting us know. Wow, scary stuff.

I hope that others in Irma's path will also check in when they can. I know it's hard when you don't have power...

I'm so glad you all are safe Butterfly.

Max sent a text from a friend's phone to say they are all safe at Ave.

We're getting pounded right now and the lights are flickering. This should be the worst of it. Water's in our yard. Good thing tide is going out.

So glad your son is safe, Vijaya, and that you are safe, too, ButterflyGirl.

It was a scary night but I think we lucked out over here in my neighborhood, just outside Clearwater. Many downed trees and many without power, but no flooding in my neighborhood (very surprised about that - I expected the streets to have some pretty deep puddles at least.) We had only some minor damage to our roof and our generator has kicked in but those are minor inconveniences compared to what a lot of other people must be going through right now... Schools will probably be closed for a while here. Just glad our windows didn't shatter - I was so scared they would!
