Greeting Cards

Discussion started on

Does anyone here still write poetry for greeting cards? I sent a Mother's Day poem to Blue Mountain Arts and it was accepted for their market test. I'm wondering if there are other companies looking for similar stuff. I've seen several looking for humorous one liners (and sent some samples ;D) , but not full length cards like this.

:wow Congrats on your poem being accepted to Market Test, that's fantastic!

I've sent some stuff to Blue Mountain here and there over the years and never had any bites.

It seems like I have heard that Hallmark does accept some but I'm not sure. Let me nose around a bit in my files because I know I used to have a list or something.  :grin3

Here's a great resource that has lots of places listed including Blue Mountain.

https://www.freedomwithwriting.com/freedom/uncategorized/13-greeting-card-companies-that-accept-submissions/

*Disclaimer : I have not submitted to these places (other than Blue Mountain) so please do your research in each of them before sending. And best of luck!

I'll check back if I find anymore. This is fun! It's like a scavenger hunt.  :lol4

Thank you! I'm pretty excited about it although the market test can take up to 24 months. If it does well, I guess I'll have some extra Christmas money in 2019  ;D

Thanks for the list. I'll spend the evening browsing these sites!

Here's a similar list. http://www.freelancewritinggigs.com/2010/01/16-greeting-card-markets/ It includes a link to a PDF disclaimer for American Greetings.

I've subbed to three companies.

Blue Mountain's guidelines say they'll respond in 8 wks if interested, but I emailed my poems 9/9 and got the contract snail mail 9/25.

Oatmeal Studios responded to my first batch within a few days with a very nice email saying they weren't quite right for them, but I should try again. I sent more a week later and she responded in 3 days to say they'd be considered in the fall review.

I emailed Calypso last week, but they only respond if interested and the website says it could take months to hear anything.

I'll update if I try any more. Good luck to everyone subbing!

Congratulations!

I used to write greeting card copy (mostly humorous, but also some sentimental). I would suggest also googling the name of any greeting-card company in which you are interested and see if they are accepting submissions. Back when I was writing, the pay could vary from $5 to $150 per card.

Thanks for the idea, Ann! So far, the websites I've visited are open about how much they pay. I was kind of surprised.
