You all doing okay in the land of green?  :clover Fiona? Others?  The news here said it was a category 3. That's a huge storm, especially for Ireland that doesn't get that many. Hope you aren't too affected.

Thanks for your concern, Olmue.
Schools have remained closed today in many parts of the country. There were 3 fatalities, one resulting from a man who ventured out with a chainsaw to cut fallen trees.
A few places near a soccer stadium suffered from falling debris and there was very minor flooding. My parents & John's parents were without power for approximately ten hours.
Otherwise, all good here.
Thanks, again. :thankyou

Stupidly, I forgot to shop for dinner on Saturday and we ventured out yesterday: the winds were awful. It's a lovely sunny day today but the transport systems are still not functioning & of course, it is sad about the fatalities, but it is a sad fact of natural life that this will happen, whether "deliberate" or not. Some people just cannot be told.
We were extremely lucky: that stadium is about five minutes away.

Most transport is back in order but there is flood damage and I have heard it will take a long time to recover, particularly in rural areas.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Glad you and yours are okay, Fiona. Prayers for all affected.
This certainly has been a year for hurricanes. I only became aware of Ophelia because of windy.com --it is a great visual tool.

Glad you're okay Fiona.

Vijaya, just looked at that site and had to come back and say thanks for mentioning it. I'd never heard of it.

Glad to hear things are mostly okay, Fiona. And yes, it often seems like the rural areas suffer the most from these types of events.
