It really sounded like they were trying to express they didn't want simultaneous submissions. So glad that's been cleared up. Thanks Della.
I have to confess I never read the terms :hiding

That's okay, V. I don't think they did either. :)

Whew. I'm glad I didn't withdraw my submission. I had a feeling that was some antiquated clause and wasn't pertinent to the contest.

Yay!!( And I hope my email didn't effectively withdraw my ms...... I mean, I figured it would then, but with their policy being different from the way it was described, I assume mine can still be considered....)

Here's to all of us!! Here's to our sweet 30-day wait!!  :coffee3 (cocoa/cider cheers, friends!)

YAY! Glad to hear the rules are more reasonable than what they posted. Sparkhouse really does need to correct what they have posted, because it makes a huge difference to authors who don't know that what Sparkhouse posted is not what they intend.

Thanks so much for checking, Della.  :thankyou

 :goodluck to everybody!

I agree, Ev. It is frustrating. I hope this snag hasn't turned too many people away who might otherwise have submitted.

I subbed today. (Nothing like waiting til the last minute. :) )

Good luck to all submitters. Here are a few happy sparkles for us.  :star2 :star2 :star2

Just played a game of beat the clock. Not sure it was my best choice for manuscript or my best pitch and bio, but six minutes isn't a lot of time to spare. We'll see what happens. Good luck to all.

Debbie,

I submitted with 8 hours left on the clock. I thought I was down to the wire, but you beat me there. Yay that you got yours in!

I just came over here to say best of luck to all of us who submitted!  :good luck

I think I remember the fine print saying they will announce the winner on or around the 22nd. Do you think the winner will be notified on the 15th? Or will he/she have to wait too?  :whistle

I can't view it on submittable any more but I found a copy on another site.

"We will accept submissions through November 17, 2017. The winner will be notified on December 15, 2017."

Ahhh, so I guess saying "Four days to go!" sounds super optimistic. (Just call me Pollyanna!) Really, I guess it refers to the winner knowing they've won and the non-winners knowing they haven't, but the non-winners not knowing who did for an another week.

This all assumes everything goes according to schedule. I can't recall the last time that actually happened. I'm going to keep waiting until I know for sure they've picked a winner.

I just received a rejection for my Sparkhouse Family PB contest submission, so it looks like they are trying hard to stick to their Dec. 15th notification date.  Best wishes to everyone who is still a contender.

It might be a Blueboarder, but it's not me. Considering the rush for my sub, I'm not surprised. Here's to next year for those of us who didn't make this one.

I found an announcement of this year's winner:

Sparkhouse FamilyMINNEAPOLIS (December 15, 2017) – Sparkhouse Family is pleased to announce the winner of the second annual Sparkhouse Family Children’s Picture Book Contest. Antonino’s Impossible Dream tells the story of a young painter who struggles to capture one of his dreams on canvas, until a new friend helps him and together they achieve new things. Author Tim McGlen is a member of SCBWI and teaches upper elementary at a Montessori school in Florida, where his sixth graders read weekly with their kindergarten reading buddies.
