I just wanted to say that I'm about two-thirds finished with Zac Brewer's Madness, and it is a wonderfully written, powerful book about living with depression as a teen. It reminds me in all the right ways of The Memory of Light, by Francisco X. Stork. I find Brewer's novel a more gripping read, but I've loved them both. There's something a little faster-paced, a bit more driven, in Brewer's book, and it works well.

Anyone else read these titles, or others like them? I'm still a relative newbie here, but I do love to talk about books and writing, so I thought I ought to dip my toes in a little more.

Haven't read either of the ones you mentioned, but I'd recommend Damage by A.M. Jenkins.

Also Some Kind of Happiness by Claire Legrand, though that's upper middle grade, not YA.

Great - thanks! :)

I finished Madness - it was a quick read, and very good, but not one I wanted to turn back to the beginning and start over immediately.  Still would recommend, though, absolutely.
