Well, it was really exciting for me earlier this year when YouthPLAYS published my play "Cake for the Queen."  Along the way, the editor had requested numerous changes in the script.  I took it as gospel that the end result would be a better play.  However, after publication, I showed the accepted version to a close circle who had read my original draft.  Interestingly, everyone unanimously agreed that my original script was better.  So, when I wrote a new play for children, "The Halloween Surprise," I deliberated long and hard about where I was going to submit it.  I ended up choosing Drama Notebook ( https://www.dramanotebook.com/ ) this time around.  Drama Notebook did not edit my script, but they did add a nice cover illustration.  I know a sign of a reputable place is if they critique your work and request edits, but I've determined that doesn't necessarily equate to an improved product.  Anyway, I am still learning as I go.  It's interesting to see the variety of different contracts and numerous opportunities that are offered in the theatre world to those who do not have agents.  And I have not paid a penny to anyone!  I am still new at this, but I thought I'd share my experiences.

:congratulations  It is so good of you to share these experiences here. I know several people who write scripts so it's wonderful to know of these opportunities.

I agree too that a professional opinion isn't necessarily better. I heard just as much at the Carolinas conference this weekend. What's good is that you were willing to try. I think we all grow so much more when we do try those suggestions.
