Hi, folks:

Starting a new PB this week on a topic that is totally out of my wheelhouse. As I am writing, the story is crying out to me to be"interactive" but I have never even tried to write this type of story before. I may have read a few here and there, but nothing is really standing out in my memory besides BROWN BEAR.  Can anyone rec. one, or several? I want to make sure I am going about this the right way and check to make sure my "instincts" aren't leading me astray.

I'm so glad you asked this, Melody, because it forced me to Google the term. I always thought an interactive PB was a novelty book where the reader physically manipulated part of the book. Think: lifting a flap, pressing buttons, or playing with the built-in finger puppet. Once I did the search and learned the interaction is intellectual, my mind was opened to a sort of sub-genre of PBs! Thank you for that!

Anyway, here are a few examples I found:

Press Here by Herve Tullet

Don't Feed the Monster by Sigal Adler and Abira Das

The Monster at the End of this Book by Jon Stone and Michael Smollin

Best wishes on your project!!

(Edited to add: Oops! I cross-posted with Darshana!)

Bob Shea's Crash, Splash or Moo! is a fun new one; Cirocco Dunlap's Crunch The Shy Dinosaur is another recent release. :)

I'll second BUNNY SLOPES and HUNGRY BUNNY by Claudia Rueda.

Saw Ariel Richardson and Amelia Mack from Chronicle do a talk on the latter. Reader uses the ribbon bookmark to help get MC across a chasm, which is so cool.
