Hello, everyone! Sorry for all the questions I've been asking lately! I just wanted to know if it's acceptable to name/list real-life people in fictional PBs? I planned on using some real-life examples of men who knit in the story I'm writing so that children who read it have real people to look at as well as the main character. His grandmother was going to do some research and find some examples of well-known men for him. I was also planning on making the main character's grandfather a knitter before he died, and his grandmother reveals this information to him after he gets bullied at school. I was planning on doing this so there was also a man in his own family he could look up to.

Is it acceptable to do this? And if it is, would it be necessary to include these people as real-life role models, or would using the main character and his family be enough?

Thank you for all your help! I'm very grateful :flowers2

It is acceptable to use real people in fiction. Just be sure you use them in an accurate way. (The key is to avoid slander and libel.) This is especially true if you're just mentioning names.

Whether your story needs this is another question I can't answer without reading it.

Thank you for your response, Debbie!! I'm glad to know it's okay to mention real people ::-)

I'll be writing two different versions of the manuscript then and see which one is more effective! Thanks so much! :flowers2
