It's good to see familiar names in those crit boards when they open up and asking questions in live events, etc.

WriteOnCon.org is more than just the inexpensive conference (in two weeks). They've been posting other free events, like one on Author Branding which I enjoyed ( https://writeoncon.org/free-live-event-author-branding/ ).

They have another event on the 28th about learning from your writing idols, and you can post questions now.

Their forums (for query/first 500 words feedback from other writers) are scheduled to open on Feb 1st.

I think they did a great job last year, and I'm hoping for another fantastic conference in 2019.

I've been viewing the free events also. And last year's conference fixed my novel.

Looks like a great line-up. I'm glad to see 30 min classes, because I don't always have a whole hour available.

Me too. It makes it feel more doable to see everything  I want to, which is most of the con.

Tomorrow's free event is ask an agent. Anyone want to ask Andrea Cascardi at Transatlantic Agency a question? You post it today for her to discuss tomorrow.

https://writeoncon.org/free-event-on-1-29-19-live-qa-with-literary-agent-andrea-cascardi/

Also the (free) forums for WriteOnCon (which open on Friday) are a little different this year. The first 250 words and first 5000 words have been replaced by the first 500 words. They didn't want to divide commenters into two groups, and the multi-chapter posts were time consuming.

The Superheroes are listed also. These are folks who'll comment on work posted in a separate section of the forums. Some are agents/editors and some are writers.

I know it will take me the whole week to go through everything for the con but it's always worth it. And I won't miss the show we have theater tickets for that Saturday.

This was an affordable and effective conference, 3 days of classes and webinars on many, many great topics. I would recommend this conference.

Glad you enjoyed it, Cathy. I'm up to Saturday afternoon. This is why I purchase the extension.

I'm glad I purchased the extension, too.

Any suggestions on must-see sessions? So many of them look amazing, it's hard to choose what to dive into.

I loved listening to Gail Carson Levine. The crit  sessions were great. Such a good way to see an agent and how they think.

Great conference -- you can see all the sessions even when they overlap. It's like having a "Hermoine" time turner.

Any suggestions on must-see sessions?

The world-building panels were both really good. Tamora Pierce was also. If you don't have an agent, check out the pitch sessions because sometimes an agent says something that let's you know they might be a good or bad fit for your work. I'm still in Saturday and working my way through. I'm skipping anything on writing horror/scary stories and mysteries this year because I'm not doing those. I'm also not looking for industry basics like the Agent and Author Relationship because I've seen those before. I will hit everything else though, if only skimming podcast transcripts.

I have three  pages of notes in my notebook and marketing and other notes added to already existing Word docs. Not to mention six book added to my to be read list (as potential comps).

Well worth the price.

:lol4 Great way to put it, Cathy.

It's been a while since I've heard Gail Carson Levine speak. I can't wait to listen to her session.
