Any recommendations for family friendly places to stay in San Diego that won't blow the budget? Something nice & clean, in a walkable area that offers suites.
(Also considering AirBnB/VRBO options)

Will you have a rental car? If so, to look for more budget-friendly options, you can consider suburbs (Chula Vista, El Cajon, La Mesa, Bonita). Everything is right by the highway in southern CA, LOL.

(My extended family lives there, so I grew up spending time in Chula Vista, El Cajon, and Lemon Grove -- all of which are 10-15 minute drives from the harbor in San Diego.)

I think we stayed here: https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sanhc-residence-inn-san-diego-mission-valley/. We had two kids and my parents and used two suites. The kids had bunk beds for the first time ever. It wasn't very possible to walk the area but there was a sports court and a pool onsite. And it was close enough to sites. I don't recall cost, but I do recall my mother casually mentioning something to the manager and him comping one night because of this very minor issue. It wasn't her intention. He was just very nice. We may also have used points since we're reward members.
