Hello writers! I'm happy to say I'll be leading a workshop on writing rhyming picture books for the Highlights Foundation this fall. It will include an online portion as well as an onsite portion at the Highlights Foundation campus in Pennsylvania. Room and board is included. I have been to a Highlights workshop before (it was about marketing and such) and the food and surroundings were absolutely wonderful. Plus, I ended up making some great friends. I highly recommend their workshops even if you aren't interested in this particular one. The "unworkshops" are really cool, too.
Oh, also, pb star Tara Lazar will be participating in the onsite portion!! While she's not a rhymer, she has loads of wisdom to impart when it comes to picture book writing in general. There's a good chance you've already visited her blog (chock-full of info) or been a member of Storystorm (previously PiBoIdMo).
Here are all the deets about the workshop:

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR RHYMING PICTURE BOOK ONLINE COURSE (SEPT 23-OCT 21) PLUS ONSITE RETREAT (NOV 7-10) 2019

I will also be doing a different online only workshop next winter or so. More details to come in a separate post.

Just want to bump this up as fall is around the corner. And we've confirmed another two guest speakers: Author/Illustrator Courtney Pippin-Mathur, and Little Brown editor Nikki Garcia (who edited my rhyming picture book "Summer Color").
In case anyone would like to sign up:

Any questions, let me know!
Hope everyone is having a great summer!

There is now a reduced-price, online-only version of this class!!! Great if you can't make the in-person part in November. There will still be full critiques. Check it out if you're interested (starts next week!):
