Hello -

Here I am again. I have a manuscript that fits very well with Firefly Books list. However, their submissions policy is confusing to say the least. Has anyone submitted to them or published with them? Do you have any advice for how to submit to them?

Thank you!

I just had a look at their website. I agree - it is confusing! My interpretation is that you can submit a proposal (not a finished manuscript) for a juvenile nonfiction manuscript to their snail mail address.  The way I read it, they are not accepting any other children's manuscripts. But that's just my take on it.
You could consider sending them a short email query to clarify.
Best of luck.

Links are helpful:

Just because they don't accept unsol. mss. does not mean they don't accept unsol. queries. I'd send a one page query. I would not write a proposal unless asked for one. Good luck, V.

I haven't submitted to them, but they are a Canadian* publisher and publish beautifully photographed books with an emphasis on nature.

It seems they want a mailed proposal (a one-page letter, author resume, outline or table of contents, and sample chapters and sample images). Enclose properly stamped SASE--This means getting sufficient Canadian* stamps; weigh your package-- if you want the material returned. If you don't want everything returned, just enclose a business envelope and one Canadian stamp suitable for a letter to the U.S. They only are interested in illustrated NF books for kids.

I couldn't link directly to this, but I found the information under FAQs: How do I submit an idea?

Good luck!
