Photographing/editing illustrations for portfolio in Photoshop

Discussion started on

I've taken some pictures of my latest illustration (colored pencil on black paper) and I'd love some advice on how to make it look the best it can possibly be. I know about making the file 300 dpi, bow can I boost the colors without losing the detail, or flattening it too much? (Sorry I had to scale down the artwork to fit it here, the original size is much better).
