In her series of scales and chord progression workbooks, Mousumi Sinha has found a clever and multi-faceted way to teach children about the C and G Major scales. She introduces a variety of characters, ranging from young children to a chipmunk, penguin, puppy, macaw and more, as she sets up a story around the whole "gang" learning scales in a warm, cozy home with snacks.
One of the characters plays the teacher and proceeds to first sing the scale, then use a white board to write out the notes, then have everyone sing it back. The teacher then links the notes with their respective letters and then assigns them colors, giving the reader a chance to practice writing and coloring them out themselves. Ms. Sinha goes a step further to associate the notes with Roman numerals, to reinforce the notes even more! Each lesson comes with several practice boxes for the reader to enthusiastically participate in, to improve their understanding of each scale.
