Marielle is a mouse with moxie! She has worked her dressmaking magic for 9 days and 9 nights to create unique dresses for a party Madame de Sooree's will give for her daughters. Finished at last, Marielle goes to bed but when she wakes, the dresses have vanished! With no time to lose, Marielle must overcome her fear of heights to take a wild ride with her friend, the pigeon, Pierre, to recover the missing dresses which have been scattered across Paris.
With courage and determination, this tiny, modest mouse not only succeeds in finding her 9 dresses, but she realizes her own courage. In triumph, she delivers her 9 inspired creations to Madame de Sooree and that night with Pierre, celebrates at the party for the 9 daughters.
The beautifully-detailed and whimsical illustrations are an homage to the beautiful city of Paris and as each dress is inspired by something in the illustrations, the child is encouraged to identify which thing in Paris inspired which dress made by Marielle.
Readers will enjoy the creativity Marielle brings to her designs, and the final pages invite them to locate the sources of her inspiration in de Sainte Marie’s images. Publisher's Weekly
