Conference Scholarships

 
BIPOC Scholarship

All-expense paid trip to the In-Person New York Conference for Black, Indigenous, and people of color. Prize covers tuition, travel, and room and board at the Hilton Midtown Hotel. Two scholarships are available for writers and/or illustrators – one is reserved for a woman of color. Runner-ups will receive tuition to the online-only Virtual New York Conference.

Applicants may submit an artist statement (250 words or less), a logline about their project, and a two-page writing or art sample. Non-members may apply.

Open December 1 through January 10.

 

Tribute Fund

SCBWI Regional Advisors may nominate up to two current SCBWI members for the Tribute Fund Scholarship, which provides dedicated members with an all-expense paid trip to the In-Person New York Conference. Prize covers tuition, travel, and room and board at the Hilton Midtown Hotel.

RTs may nominate members based on volunteer experience, artistic promise, or financial need. Members may not nominate themselves.

Student Illustrator Scholarship

Conference tuition for full-time university students studying illustration. Prize covers base conference tuition to the In-Person New York Conference, as well as featured placement in the Portfolio Showcase. Students may submit a description in 250 words or less of why you wish to attend the conference and three samples of your children’s book-style illustrations, along with a photo of current student ID (or other official documentation). Two winners total (one undergraduate and one graduate) will be chosen. Non-members may apply.
