BIPOC Scholarship

All-expense paid tuition to the Summer Conference plus one bonus pitching session for Black, Indigenous, and people of color. Scholarships are available for writers and illustrators – half reserved for women of color. The BIPOC Summer Conference award is sponsored by Matt de la Pena, as well as other anonymous member donations. 

Applicants may submit an artist statement (250 words or less) and a one-sentence logline about their project. Non-members may apply.

General Conference Scholarship

This scholarship provides all-expense paid tuition to the Summer Conference for any SCBWI member experiencing financial hardship. Recipients will receive base tuition to the online event. Applicants may submit an artist statement (250 words or less) and a one-sentence logline about their project. SCBWI members only.

Student Illustrator Scholarship

Conference tuition for full-time university students studying illustration. Students may submit a description in 250 words or less of why you wish to attend the SCBWI Conference and three samples of your children’s book-style illustrations, along with a photo of current student ID (or other official documentation).

Student Writer Scholarship 

Conference tuition for two full-time university students (any major). One winner will be chosen from a graduate or doctoral program, and one winner will be chosen from an undergraduate program. Students must submit a description (250 words or less) about why you wish to attend the conference, as well as up to ten pages of an unpublished manuscript. Copy of student ID (or other official documentation) must be provided.
