BIPOC Scholarship

 

All expense paid tuition to the Winter Conference plus one Up Close with Publishing professional breakout session for Black, Indigenous, and People of color. 25 scholarships are available for writers and illustrators – five reserved for women of color. The BIPOC award is sponsored by Christopher Paul Curtis, as well as other anonymous member donations. 

 

Applicants may submit an artist statement (250 words or less) and a one-sentence logline about their project. Non-members may apply.

Need-Based Scholarship

 

This new scholarship will provide all expense paid tuition to the Winter Conference for any SCBWI member experiencing financial hardship.  Recipients will receive base tuition to the online event. Applicants may submit an artist statement (250 words or less) and a one-sentence logline about their project. SCBWI members only.

Student Illustrator Scholarship

 

Conference tuition for full-time university students studying illustration. Students may submit a description in 250 words or less of why you wish to attend the SCBWI Conference and three samples of your children’s book-style illustrations, along with a photo of current student ID (or other official documentation).

Student Writer Scholarship 

 

Conference tuition for full-time university student (any major). One winner will be chosen from a graduate or doctoral program, and one winner will be chosen from an undergraduate program. Students must submit a description (250 words or less) about why you wish to attend the conference, as well as up to ten pages of an unpublished manuscript. Copy of student ID (or other official documentation) must be provided.
