First Looks: Promo Edition with Taylor Abatiell

What do industry professionals look for when they view illustrators’ postcards and social media posts? Taylor Abatiell, senior designer at Penguin Workshop and an illustrator herself, will offer live feedback on anonymous submissions. Whether you choose to submit a file or just watch, you'll gain insights on how to improve your art. Taylor is also offering a limited number of post-webinar written critiques following the webinar, and all participants will have the opportunity to send samples to her for a limited time after the event. This webinar will be recorded.

Please send one .jpg or.png file (5 MB max) of your latest postcard, IG post, or other promo piece to mddewv-ic@scbwi.org by 11:59 PM Eastern on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Images will be shown in the order received, and we will get to as many as time allows.

Taylor Abatiell

is a New York based Senior Designer at Penguin Workshop, an imprint of Penguin Random House. She develops children's books, board books, and the occasional middle-grade novel. Previous projects include CLYDE THE HIPPO, MOMS CAN DO IT ALL, Kirkus starred HUMPTY DUMPTY LIVED NEAR A WALl, and the #1 NYT best-selling series WHO HQ. As a queer asian designer, she is also passionate about inclusive art direction and champions diverse stories for underrepresented audiences.
