I’m sharing my news that I am going to SCBWI CenCal's 2024 Writers & Illustrators Day - CONNECTING THE CREATIVE DOTS – SCBWI, an in-person event for kidlit writers and illustrators held on Saturday 9/21/24 in Camarillo, CA.
I thought you might be interested so here are the details:
There’s a very full, fun day planned with 4 keynote speakers: Jennie Kendrick, agent at Red Fox Literary; Andrea Welch, editor at Simon and Schuster's Beach Lane Books, Courtney Donovan, agent at Writers House; Michele Robbins, publisher at Familius Books, plus 3 spotlight author speakers: Lynn Becker, Patricia Toht of the Rhyme Doctors, and Ana Ellickson. Activities include First Pages reading, a Writing Contest, an Illustration Contest, Illustrators Portfolio table, PAL (published author) Display Table & PAL Slideshow. And for illustrators, the option to sit with our Illustrator Coordinator Jaime Zollars. Plus, the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals over morning coffee & pastries and a catered lunch. * For those interested in creating or joining a Picture Book, Middle Grade, or YA critique group, we have an afternoon breakout session for you. This year, Paulina Hill will be leading those interested in joining an Author-Illustrator/Illustrator-Author critique group.
