FOR PALS

Special Opportunities for PAL (Published and Listed) Members

We’re thrilled to offer unique benefits to our SCBWI PAL members attending this year’s conference! Whether you’re an author or illustrator, these exclusive opportunities are designed to celebrate your work and help you connect with your community in meaningful ways. Not sure if you’re a PAL? Visit the PAL PAGE to learn what qualifies you for Published and Listed membership and how to add the PAL designation to your SCBWI profile.

1 – Exclusive PAL/agented-only sessions with editors

Two first look sessions (8 people + faculty) are reserved for PALs only!

2 – PAL Showcase: Digital Book & Art Display

Displayed all weekend in our main conference room

Share your latest success with the whole conference! PAL members may submit good news—such as book launches, awards, or recent publications—to be featured on our large projector screen. Submissions can include book covers, interior art, or promotional graphics. Submission instructions will be emailed closer to the conference date.

3 – PAL Lunch & Learn Editor Panel

There will be an agented/published-only lunch & learn with an editor panel. More time to network with key faculty.

4 – PAL Panel w/ Book Signing

Select PALs already registered for the conference will be invited to be on the PAL panel, and sign books at the end of the sessions. Priority is given to those with new titles published since May 2025.

5 – Texas Book Festival Signing Booth Priority Waitlist

PAL members attending the conference will be added to the priority waitlist for signing slots at the Texas Book Festival (TBF). While no spots are guaranteed, preference will be based on recent publications, past TBF participation, and availability. Eligible only to PAL-level Austin SCBWI members who complete conference registration.

6 – Friday Night Industry Mixer

Exclusive networking event (email [email protected] for a free PAL admission code)

Kick off the weekend with a special evening designed for connection! Our Industry Mixer brings together PAL members, invited publishing guests, conference faculty, and regional SCBWI volunteers for a casual, celebratory networking event.

Enjoy light refreshments as you mingle with editors, agents, and fellow creators in a relaxed setting that encourages conversation and community. This guest-list-only event is a chance to build authentic industry relationships, reconnect with peers, and toast your publishing milestones.
