Audiobooks are a growing category in children’s literature and are increasingly available as an option for self-published authors. Author Theresa Villareal will walk us through the process of turning her self-published debut middle grade book into an audiobook available for download on Amazon's KDP platform. 

About Theresa Villareal

Theresa Villarreal, the author of the Adventures in Oculus series, hails from a family of storytellers who instilled a deep passion for literature and writing. Drawing inspiration from renowned authors like C.S. Lewis, Madeleine L'Engle, and J.R.R. Tolkien, Theresa crafts captivating tales for readers. Holding a degree in marketing and sales from the University of Houston Bauer School of Business, she skillfully combines her credentials and storytelling prowess to create a lasting legacy for her children.

If you’d like to share your work in progress with others and receive or provide feedback, please bring printed copies of up to 5 pages of a manuscript to share. Zoom participants will be allowed to screen share in order to receive feedback. We’re always looking for guest speakers for our monthly meetings. If you’re passionate about a specific kid-lit related topic, feel free to pitch it to us! Guests can present in person or via Zoom and receive $50 compensation as well as lunch after our meeting. Presentations take place on the last Wednesday of the month from 10am-11am and can be in the format of workshops, interviews, slideshows… you name it! Pitch us your ideas at brazosvalley-ra@scbwi.org
