Please join Eastern PA members this spring on a journey to NYC to see the Beatrix Potter: Drawn to Nature exhibition at The Morgan Library & Museum on Saturday, June 1, 2024.  

Children’s book author-illustrator Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) is most famous for creating the Tale of Peter Rabbit and other books featuring anthropomorphized animals, including Benjamin Bunny, Mr. Jeremy Fisher, Squirrel Nutkin, Tom Kitten, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, and many more. Beatrix Potter rooted her fiction in the natural world. She was a keen observer and conservationist. 

The exhibition brings together artwork, books, manuscripts, and artifacts from several institutions in the United Kingdom, including the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Trust, and the Armitt Museum & Library. Paired with the Morgan’s exceptional collection of her picture letters, these objects trace how Potter’s innovative blend of scientific observation and imaginative storytelling shaped some of the world’s most popular children’s books.

Registration is free. Attendees are responsible for their own travel and food/beverage expenses, as well as museum admission. 

Morgan Library & Museum admission fees: $25 adults; $17 seniors (65 and older); $13 students (with current ID). 

While registration is free, we ask that anyone planning to attend the field trip registers so Eastern PA Field Trip Coordinator Virginia Law Manning can contact the group and coordinate where we will meet (whether at Hamilton Train Station or at the museum).

If you’d like to travel to NYC with the group, we will be taking the NJ Transit train from Hamilton Station in NJ to NY Penn Station, NYC. 

Train departs Hamilton at 10:27 AM and arrives at NY Penn Station at 11:46 AM. We will travel by foot across town to the museum. Alternately attendees may choose to cross town via bus or taxi/Uber.

The Morgan Library & Museum is located at 225 Madison Avenue @ 36th Street.
