More about our Panelists:

Greta Mantooth holds a B.F.A. in Illustration and an M.F.A. in Advertising Design from Savannah College of Art and Design. She has lived and worked all over the United States, and has designed and illustrated all kinds of goodies, like fancy beverage packaging (for grownups), punny holiday advertisements, and Halloween costumes for baby carrots. By day, Greta leads the brand design team at Indeed, helping people get jobs. By night, she creates art and stories for children (and sometimes for herself). At home in Austin, Texas, Greta lives with her wonderful family, who wear her out daily. She reads them lots and lots of books.

After studying creative writing and mass communication, Josh Weiss-Roessler spent one decade in Los Angeles working in the entertainment industry (he got one line in a movie!) and another raising kids and building a digital marketing agency with his wife, where lately he has had to field lots of client questions about using AI. An alum of NBC’s Writers On The Verge and Futurescapes, and an active member of SCBWI, Josh just started querying his first novel, an upper middle-grade sci-fi. When not working or writing, you can typically find him struggling to limit his kids' screen time and make sure his House of Too Many Animals gets fed. He did not use AI to write this bio.

Sean Petrie is an award-winning poet, author, and founder of Typewriter Rodeo. He's written over 20,000 poems for people all over the country, does radio poems for Austin's NPR station, and his books include Pet Poems (also not just pets), Listen to the Trees, Typewriter Rodeo, and the Jett Ryder adventure-history series. He has an MFA in Writing for Children from Vermont College, teaches legal writing at UT Law School, and owns way too many typewriters. More at www.SeanPetrie.com.

S.G. Wilson is the author of the middle grade series ME VS. THE MULTIVERSE. In an alternate reality, he’s worked as a journalist, penning articles for assorted magazines and co-authoring a biography of comedian Paul Lynde.

Moderated by Madeline Smoot

Madeline Smoot was a publisher and Editorial Director for Children’s Books and is now an author under several pen names. In other words, Madeline knows a lot about publishing and the process of bringing a book to market. She is currently the ARA for the Austin chapter of the SCBWI.
