Discover the framework within every captivating tale! Wondering how to plan out your novel? Stuck in the middle of a draft? Seeking a commonsense approach for revisions? This four-week online course will give you a straightforward plan of attack. We’ll peel back the layers of story structure and learn the essential elements all great stories have in common. We’ll explore how to craft memorable characters that intertwine with the plot. We’ll examine the role of settings and learn to weave them seamlessly with your narrative. Workbook pages, a discussion board, and in-person Zoom sessions will help you tailor everything you’re learning to your own projects. By the end of the course, you’ll know the inside secrets of how good stories work, and you’ll have mapped out the key elements for your own.

Jenny MacKay is the author of 35 nonfiction books for tweens and teens and has 20 years of experience working as a copyeditor for trade and academic publishers. She has devoted thousands of hours to analyzing narrative structure from the first word to the polished final product. Jenny has an MFA in creative writing, has taught college writing courses, and currently serves as the assistant regional advisor for Nevada SCBWI.
