Join fellow Premium members online for this bimonthly writers' critique group.
Join us for our virtual, pop-up peer critique session, the Write Idea: A Writers’ Critique Group on October 24 from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. ET. Hosted on Zoom by ARA Elena Dee, our meeting will offer Premium members an opportunity to give and receive feedback on 500 words from a work in progress. This session is meant for all writers, whether they belong to a critique group or not. Unlike a regular critique group where in-depth analysis is possible, the Write Idea is structured to offer a snapshot view—highlights and immediate reactions. You might be looking for first impressions from a fresh eye. Or you might be looking for sympatico peers to form a critique group with. (SCBWI Canada East offers support to those who are interested in doing so. Visit our Critique Groups page for more information.) Keep reading for more details.
Three manuscripts (any genre) will be selected for attention. Each peer critique will be allotted 20 minutes, broken down into three sections: 1-optional elevator pitch (1-2 minutes) 2-reading the piece aloud (2-7 minutes) 3-feedback via verbal comments and a short critique poll (7-10 minutes). General feedback will be solicited and should be framed in a kind and constructive manner. All Premium members are welcome, whether you are looking for feedback or not.
